What exactly is a “supercar”??

Because this is reliably Yahoo News, I shall use Wikipedia’s definition:

Now, the seven “supercars” yahoo states are reasonable with insurance costs:

1. Charger R/T

2. C7 Stingray

3. Taurus SHO

4. Mustang GT

5. Camaro ZL1

6. KIA K900

7. Challenger Hellcat

Of all the cars to choose from, I think only three, arguably four, could be considered “supercars”, and the fourth one(Mustang) is a long shot in the dark, even though I’m only going off of performance.

Perhaps a better choice of title would have been: “7 cars that offer ‘supercar performance’ for peasants who can’t afford real supercars because insurance reasons”. It just doesn’t roll off the tongue as nice though...

Before the term “musclecar” came to be widely used those cars were referred to as “supercars”. I’m not suggesting that Yahoo Auto knew that, but if you use that, original, definition they stumbled on the truth with some of their list just like a blind squirrel finding an occasional acorn.

Well a friend of mine called her 2010 4 cylinder Avenger a “sportscar” and if that’s a sports car then yes a CHanger R/T must be a supercar.
